Private Registration offers you a solution to customer privacy concerns. The NetworkSolutions Private Registration
service replaces customer’s postal address, phone number and e-mail address listed in the WHOIS domain
lookup database with a generic contact listing under the care of NetworkSolutions. Adding Private Registration to your
customers’ domain orders:
Protects Privacy NetworkSolutions will mask customer’s personal information from public view on the Internet
Guards Against Fraud NetworkSolutions will protect customers from offenders that may attempt to transfer customers’ domains or engage in other illegal practices
Avoids Unwanted Spam NetworkSolutions will generate an alias e-mail every 14 days, while filtering spam and forwarding authorized messages to domain customers
Minimizes Solicitations NetworkSolutions will direct only legitimate callers to customer’s e-mail address and forward first-class mail sent to our care
Honors Registrant’s Rights NetworkSolutions, unlike other domain proxy services, allows customer to remain the registrant of record for the domain name
Strengthens Proposition For a low, incremental price, customers will have peace of mind regarding their privacy concerns
A newly created e-mail address, postal address and phone number under the care of NetworkSolutions Private Registration
will appear in the public WHOIS database for customers’ domain name registrations. This minimizes the amount
of spam, junk mail, and telemarketing calls customers will receive, and protects against identity thieves and
unauthorized attempts to transfer customers’ domain name registrations.

Private Registration
Why would customers be interested in the SRSplus® Private Registration service?
SRSplus Private Registration keeps a registrant’s contact information out of the public WHOIS database, by displaying alternate contact information in the WHOIS listing. The service:
- Reduces email spam
- Guards against identify theft
- Deters unsolicited telemarketing and direct mail
- Hides residential/home office address information
- Provides personal safety precautions against potential stalkers

How does a Private Registration work?
The SRSplus® Private Registration service masks the information that appears in WHOIS so that the registrant’s personal data isn’t available to the public. With the private registration the following items are masked:
Email: A dynamic, randomly-created alpha-numeric email is listed. The alias filters spam and forwards other messages to the email account on record with SRSplus.
Postal Address: The registrant name appears with an SRSplus P.O. Box address. Mail received at this address is processed as follows:
- First class mail is returned to the sender
- Third class mail is shredded
- USPS Express Mail is forwarded via fax for free. SRSplus will forward hard copies via Fed Ex if a customer makes the request and pays the delivery charges.
Telephone Number: The domain name is listed with a SRSplus Private Registration toll telephone number, which screens calls on your behalf. If called, a recording will state that this is a private registration and will refer callers to contact your postal address.

What information is made public in the WHOIS database?
When a customer registers a domain name, the registrant’s address, e-mail and phone number are published in a public WHOIS database, as required by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). The public WHOIS database is accessible by anyone, 24 hours a day, and includes the following additional information:
- Address, phone number, and e-mail address of other domain name contacts
- Date of the domain name registration
- Date of the most recent update to the domain name record
- Date that the domain name registration will expire
- Host name and IP addresses for the domain name servers

Why should customers be concerned about the information in WHOIS?
Many domain holders may be unaware that personal ‘registered’ information is posted to public databases and readily accessible by anyone with Internet access. When a customer registers a domain name, the registrant’s information is accessible to ANYONE via the online WHOIS search tool found on the websites of all accredited registrars. Some of these sites are susceptible to automated “mining” of the information by high-speed computer queries.
Additionally, ICANN requires all accredited domain name registrars to make a complete copy of their WHOIS data available to any third party that signs a contract. Once the agreement is signed, individual parties become licensed to access all of a registrar’s WHOIS data for an annual fee established by ICANN not to exceed $10K.

How is the SRSplus Private Registration service different from the “proxy” services?
Those who offer Private Registration by “proxy” become the domain name holder or registrant themselves. The SRSplus Private Registration, customer maintains full control as the registrant over the domain name registration.
